BatteryIQ was founded by Nick Bailey, a London-based electronics engineer with hands-on design and development experience in the e-mobility sector.

This sector has been troubled by battery fire headlines scaring consumers and regulators, and whilst the majority of these fires are caused by sub-standard or unregulated products, the public perception of fire-risk is damaging for even the highest quality brands. This has led to e-mobility products being banned from workplaces, private accommodation and public spaces, putting the brakes on the much-needed transition away from private motor transport in many cities.
Whilst working on battery development projects for his own e-mobility brand, Nick found that off-the-shelf Battery Management Systems (BMS) were not always up to the task, and set out to develop his own design. This was when he realised that smart, connected batteries are the best solution to the technical and image problems that all small batteries face.
By transmitting and capturing the safety and performance data produced by a battery’s BMS, BatteryIQ is able to prove that a battery is safe at every point throughout its lifetime, unlocking safe day-to-day use in any situation or location. We also capture powerful battery usage information to support brands using the technology.
